This Waltz Op. 12, No. 2 is typcal of Grieg's style as it features a tuneful folklike melody over fresh but uncomplicated harmonies.It has an A-A-B-A-Coda music form :

- A : exact repeat of first section (mm. 19-36)
- B : central section with the theme in the left hand (mm. 37-52)
- A : same as first section, theme back in the right hand (mm. 53-70)
- Coda : based on fragments from section B (mm. 71-79)
Namely, the appogiaturas in this waltz ought to be played ON the beat, quickly and with an incisive accent.
