Panis Angelicus - A Major
From Messe à trois voix, FWV 61, Op. 12
This famous Panis Angelicus was composed by César Franck in 1872.It is the fifth of six movements in Franck's Messe à trois voix, FWV 61.
César Franck composed this Mass in the summer of 1860.
In this first version, written for STB choir and orchestral accompaniment, the fifth movement was an O Salutaris.
It is only in 1872 that César Franck composed the Panis Angelicus and included it in his Messe à trois voix, as a replacement to the O Salutaris.
Franck's Panis Angelicus was originally composed for tenor voice with harp, cello and organ accompaniment.
This score is an arrangement for voice and piano or organ (manuals only).
It remains in the original key of A Major.
The vocal range is G#4 to F#5 (C4 = middle C).
The voice part is appropriate for Grade 6 singers.

- Panis Angelicus in A Major (original key) : vocal range G#4 to F#5
- Panis Angelicus in G Major : vocal range F#4 to E5
- Panis Angelicus in F Major : vocal range E4 to D5
