This Moderato in A minor by Matteo Carcassi is part of the composer's celebrated Méthode complète pour la guitare, Op. 59.This guitar method was first published in Paris in the first half of the 19th century.
This Moderato is the eleventh piece in Part 3 : Cinquante morceaux progressifs of the method.
It has an A-B-A' musical structure :
- Phrase A : measures 1 to 8, in the main key of A minor
- Phrase B : measures 9 to 16, beginning in the relative key of C Major but modulating back to A minor
- Phrase A' : measures 17 to 24, quite similar to Phrase A but with small differences, also in the main key of A minor
