Suite No. 4 in D minor (4/6) - Theme and variations
This Sarabande in D minor by George Frideric Handel is the fourth of six movements in the Suite No. 4 in D minor, HWV 437.This suite was composed ca 1703-1706, and was first published in London in 1733.
It has six movements :
- Prélude
- Allemande
- Courante
- Sarabande
- Gigue
- Sonatina HWV 581
Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (here, trills) in accordance with the performance practice of the Baroque period.
Namely, we suggest adding a schleifer (or slide), cadential trill and arpeggiated chord in measures 15 and 16.
Also, similar cadential trills can be added to measures 31 and 47.
