Fantaisie in A flat Major - First movement : Dolce
This Dolce is the first of four movements in Georg Philipp Telemann's Fantasia no. 7, TWV 40:20.
This fantasia was originally composed for the violin in the key of E flat Major.
This score is a transcription for the viola. It is set in the key of A flat Major.
Telemann's Fantasia no. 7, TWV 40:20 consists of four movements :
- Dolce
- Allegro
- Largo
- Presto
This Dolce is appropriate for Grade 8 violists.
Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (here, appoggiaturas and trills) in accordance with the performance practice of the Baroque period.
In particular, appoggiaturas are played on the beat and take up one half of the main note's value.
Moreover, trills are to begin on the beat, starting on the upper auxiliary note.
Please note also that the upbow indication (V) in measure 14 is editorial.
