CW A22 - March - Movement from the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach

This Aria in F Major, BWV Anhang 131 is the 32nd piece in the 1725 Notenbüchlein für Anna Magdalena Bach [Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach].

This aria has a simple A-A-B-B musical form.

Although this aria was traditionally attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach, recent research has shown that is was rather composer by his youngest son Johann Christian Bach.

Moreover, the title Aria does not appear in the source (there is no title for this work in Anna Magdalena's Notebook) and is thus editorial.

Please note that this score contains suggestions for realizing the ornaments in accordance with the performance practice of the early Classical period.

In the autograph, the only ornament is a trill in measure 1.

The trill should begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note.

We also suggest adding a cadential trill on the second half note of measure 14.
