Bach, Johann Christian (1735-1782)

Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) was a German composer of the Classical period.

Johann Christian Bach was the eleventh and youngest son of Johann Sebastian Bach.

As a composer, Johann Christian Bach was the most versatile of J.S. Bach's sons.

He was also the only one of J.S. Bach's sons to compose Italian operas.

Because he lived in England from 1762 until his death, he is sometimes referred to as the London Bach or the English Bach.

Johann Christian Bach was an important influence on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Throughout his life, Mozart expressed much warmth and high esteem for Johann Christian Bach's music.

Together with C.F. Abel, Johann Christian Bach did much to establish regular public concerts in London.
