Bourrée in A minor

Bourree - Bourée

This Bourrée in A minor by Georg Philipp Telemann was composed during the Baroque period.

It has a simple A-A-B-B musical form :
  • Measures 1-18 : Section A (played twice) starts the main key of A minor and modulates to the relative key of C Major in measure 10
  • Measures 19-42 : Section B (played twice) begins in C Major, then modulates to E minor in measure 25 and then back to the main key of A minor in measure 37
In accordance with Baroque performance practice, remember that unslurred quarter notes should be played slightly detached, especially in the left hand accompaniment.

Please note that for your convenience, the editor has included in this score suggestions for adding trills in measures 10, 18, 29 and 41.

In particular, trills begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note. More on less repercussions may be played depending on the player's ability.

Also, a downward broken chord can be added to the final measure, as was customarily done by performers of the Baroque period.

Duration : 02:34
