This famous Romance du Chevrier : Plaisir d'amour is a sad 18th century French love song by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini.It was first published in Paris in 1784 as the first of three romances in Martini's Airs du Droit du Seigneur et Trois Romances Nouvelles.
The lyrics are by Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian (1755-1794), from his novel Célestine in Nouvelles Nouvelles.
