Menuet in G minor, HWV 540 b
Menuet in G minor, HWV 540 b
Minuet - also in Almira, HWV 1
This Menuet in G minor by George Frideric Handel was composed during the Baroque period.Handel adapted it from a similar minuet in his own opera Almira, HWV 1, which was first performed in Hamburg in 1705.
This menuet has a simple A-B-A musical form :
- Measures 1-8 : Section A in the main key of G minor
- Measures 9-20 : Section B, in the relative key of B flat Major
Namely, trills begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note.
More or less repercussions may be added depending on the pianist's taste and ability.
We suggest adding cadential trills to measures 7 and 19, as was customarily done during the Baroque period.
Duration : 01:19
