This Sonata in G Major, Hoboken XVI:11, Landon 5 by Franz Joseph Haydn was composed in 1767.Haydn originally composed this sonata for the harpsichord, but it is also very well suited to the piano.
This sonata contains three movements :
- Presto in G Major
- Andante in G minor
- Menuet and Trio in G Major
Please note that this score contains suggestions for playing the ornaments (here : trills and mordents) in accordance with the performance practice of the Classical period.
In particular, all ornaments begin ON the beat, and trills begin on the upper auxiliary note.
This Presto, Hob. XVI:11 is appropriate for Grade 7 pianists.
Please note that this sonata movement is very similar to the Finale of Sonata Hob. XVI:G1.
