Study in G Major, Op. 45, No. 3
Study in G Major, Op. 45, No. 3
Etude - Étude
This Study Op. 45, No. 3 by Franz Wohlfahrt is excellent for developing rapid détaché bowing as well as for practicing various other bowing patterns. This study is all in sixteenth notes and it ought to be practiced with a great variety of bowing patterns, in all parts of the bow.
It can be played entirely in the first position.
The violinist should try to keep the fingers close to the fingerboard as he plays this study.
In particular, the fourth finger should remain above the strings at all times.
Furthermore, it is good idea to use the fourth finger instead of the open strings as often as possible, in order to develop a good position of the left hand.
Besides developing détaché bowing, this study is an excellent way for the student to develop sight-reading skills in the key of G Major, on all four strings.
