Wohlfahrt, Franz
Franz Wohlfahrt (1833-1884) was a German violin teacher of the 19th century.
Franz Wohlfahrt was born, lived and died in Leipzig, Germany. He was the son of the reputed piano teacher Heinrich Wohlfahrt. He was a violin student of Ferdinand David.
Franz Wohlfahrt is remembered mostly for his etudes and other didactic compositions written for his own teaching purposes.
His Sixty Studies for the Violin, op. 45 are still nowadays a landmark work of violin pedagogy. They are often among the first ones studied by young violinists and violists.
