Sonate HWV 373 (I : Adagio)

Sonata in E Major, Op. 1, No. 15 - I : Adagio

This Sonate in E Major, HWV 373 was originally composed for violin and continuo.

The keyboard realization in this score is thus provided by the editor.

This sonata contains four movements :
  1. Adagio in E Major
  2. Allegro in E Major
  3. Largo in C# minor
  4. Allegro in E Major
This beautiful Adagio is the first movement of the sonata.

In accordance with Baroque performance practice, the violinist should remember that the trills are to be played ON the beat, starting on the upper auxiliary note.

More or less repercussions may be played depending on the violinist's ability.

This sonata movement is to be played in the first three positions.

We suggest a lyrical cantabile style.

We also suggest that the chords in mm. 18-19 of the keyboard part be played arpeggiated.

Duration : 01:40
