Chorus from Judas Maccabaeus

See, the Conquering Hero Comes - Oratorio HWV 63

This score is an arrangement of the chorus See, the Conqu'ring hero comes for easy violin with piano accompaniment.

During the 19th century, this famous chorus and march was typically played by brass bands at the inauguration of new British rail stations.

Beethoven also composed 12 Variations for Cello and Piano, Wo45 on this theme.

This violin arrangement is to be played entirely in the first position using the whole bow.

Please note that the cadential trills in mm. 7, 15 and 23 are required in order to comply with proper Baroque performance practice.

These cadential trills should start ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note.

Furthermore, violinists may be interested in Charles Dancla's Study Opus 84, No. 21, which is a French Romantic arrangement of the chorus See, the Conqu'ring hero comes.

Duration : 01:22
