This Study Opus 84, No. 24 by Charles Dancla is a waltz [valse] preceded with a short seven-measure introduction.It is useful for practicing dance-style phrasing in triple meter, using always one bow per measure.
The introduction features three-note chords as well as sautillé bowing.
The waltz introduces harmonics and a little bit of third position (in measures 13-14).
Be sure to emphasize the first beat of each measure in the waltz.
Also, the fourth-finger harmonics are best realized by placing the finger very lightly on the side of the A string.
