Andantino in C Major, Op. 22, No. 4
Very Easy Melodious Exercise - Very Easy Piece in the First Position
This short Andantino in C Major, Op. 22, No. 4 was originally composed for the violin in the key of G Major. It is the fourth of six pieces in Elgar's Very Easy Melodious Exercises in the First Position for Violin with Pianoforte Accompaniment, Op. 22.
This score is a transcription for viola with piano accompaniment.
The viola part of this Andantino is appropriate for Grade 2 viola students.
It can be played entirely in the first position, although we do suggest using the third position in measures 23 and 24.
This Andantino Op. 22, No. 4 is a very expressive piece in which the viola student should pay particular attention to the dynamics, which were carefully indicated by Elgar.
