Study in G Major, Op. 84, No. 28

Melodious and Very Easy Study - Étude mélodique et très facile - Etude

Charles Dancla's Study in G Major, Op. 84, No. 28 is a variation on Study Op. 84, No. 27, and it is based on the aria Voi che sapete from Mozart's opera buffa Le nozze di Figaro, K 492, composed in 1786.

It is to be played in the first position and entirely in spiccato.

Depending on the player's ability, this study can also be used to practice the faster sautillé bowing.

This study is preceded with an exercise in octaves and chords in the key of G Major.

This study is about spiccato for the young violin student.

The fact that every note is played four times in a row (twice only in some measures) makes this study easier for coordination between the left and the right hands.

Play the spiccato near the balance point of the bow, and give it a clear ringing tone.

At all times, keep the bowhand, wrist, elbow and shoulder relaxed.

The parallel octaves are difficult for intonation and should be repeated many times separately until great ease of execution is achieved.

The three-note down-bow chords are to be played at the frog, sounding first the two lower notes, then the two upper notes, with a broad and free gesture of the right arm.
