Motet
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's motet Ave verum corpus was composed in Baden on June 17, 1791.The original version is scored for choir SATB, strings and basso continuo.
Mozart's only indication in the manuscript is a single sotto voce at the beginning.
Mozart composed this motet less than six months before his death, during a visit to his wife Constanze, who was pregnant with their sixth child and staying in a spa near Baden.
At the time, he was also working on his opera Die Zauberflöte.
