Perpetual Motion - No. 6 from Little Suite

This Perpetuo mobile is the last of six movements in Carl Bohm's Kleine Suite.

It was originally composed for violin and piano in the key of D Major.

This score is a transcription for viola and piano.

It is set in the key of G Major

This Little Suite was first published in Berlin in 1892.

The six movements of Bohm's Kleine Suite are :
  1. Intrada
  2. Loure
  3. Aria
  4. Gavotte
  5. Intermezzo
  6. Perpetuo mobile
This perpetual motion is a challenging and highly entertaining piece.

The viola part is appropriate for Grade 7 viola students.

It is to be played in the first to fourth positions.

The violist should play in the middle of the bow, using the sautillé bowing.

Great attention must be paid to the dynamics, which are very effective musically in this work.
