Suite in G Major, Op. 1, No. 1 (11/12)
XI : Andante - From Pièces de clavecin, Op. 1
This beautiful Andante by Joseph-Hector Fiocco is taken from the Pièces de clavecin, Op. 1, first published in Brussels in 1730.
These Pièces de clavecin [Harpsichord Pieces] consist of two suites of twelve pieces each.
The Andante in the present score is the eleventh of twelve pieces in the Suite in G Major, Op. 1, No. 1.
Please note that this score contains numerous suggestions for performing the ornaments in accordance with the performance practice of the Baroque period.
Furthermore, in the first edition of these Pièces de clavecin, Fiocco gives precise instructions for the performance of ornaments.
He calls these instructions a Table de divers agremens, which is French for Table of Different Ornaments.
Our own suggestions are derived from this detailed table by Fiocco.
We give the French name of each ornament as well as a specific suggestion for performance.
