Sonata Op. 5, No. 7 (III : Sarabanda)

Sonate - III : Sarabanda - Sarabande

This Sarabanda was originally composed for violin and basso continuo (marked violone e cimbalo in the original).

It is the third movement of this four-movement sonata : Preludio (Vivace), Corrente (Allegro), Sarabanda (Largo) and Giga (Allegro).

It has a very simple A-A-B-B musical form, with the A part ending on the dominant and the B part ending in a perfect cadence in the main key of D minor.

This score is a transcription for piano or harpsichord in which the right hand plays the violin part while the left hand plays the basso continuo part.

Please take note that the editor has added cadential trills in measures 4 and 15.

Such cadential trills were customarily added by performers of the Italian Baroque period.

Furthermore, this score contains suggestions for the proper realization of these trills.

Duration : 01:28
