Albumleaf Sostenuto B 133 (Posthumous)

Albumleaf to Emile Gaillard - KK IVb No. 10 - Waltz in E flat Major

This waltz in E flat Major by Frédéric Chopin is the shortest of all of Chopin's waltzes.

The autograph was discovered only in 1941 by Dr. Jacques Chailley in an album belonging to Emile Gaillard, a friend and pupil of Chopin.

As the composer gave no title to this piece except for the dedication to Emile Gaillard, it is sometimes referred to as Albumleaf.

Originally, the term Albumleaf was indeed used for pieces written in dedication to a friend or pupil, to be inserted into their album or autograph book, and not primarily intended for publication.

The autograph of this piece is signed F.F. Chopin, Paris, 20 juillet 1840.

Please note that all dynamics given in this score are editorial, as Chopin's manuscript does not contain any dynamics.

Note also that this work by Chopin is not always classified as a waltz.

Duration : 02:39
