Reel de Sainte-Anne

St. Anne's Reel

This reel Reel de Sainte-Anne [St. Anne's Reel] is famous not only in French Canada but also all over Canada as well as in the United States of America and in Ireland.

Although its origin is uncertain, it is thought to be French Canadian.

The Reel de Sainte-Anne was first recorded by Québec fiddler Joseph Allard (1873-1947) in 1929.

As the Christian mother of Mary and grandmother of Jesus, Sainte Anne is a cultural and religious icon in Québec.

Shet is the patron-saint of water-travelling fur-trading voyageurs, including many fiddlers who brought tunes with them across the American continent.

This arrangement of St. Anne's Reel is set in the key of D Major.

The violin part is intended for Grade 4 violin players.

Duration : 01:23
