This very easy piece Jugendlich froh [Youthful Happiness] is the twenty-fifth piece in Volume 1 of Daniel Gottlob Türk's Handstücke für angehende Klavierspieler.This first volume was first published in 1792.
This piece Youthful Happiness is set in the key of G Major.
Please note the the sign // in measures 4 and 12 is used by Türk to indicate that the note should be played with a lifting touch in order to round-off the end of the phrase.
This sign should NOT be confused with the ornament // (trill) of the Baroque English virginalists.
Furthermore, the staccato wedge (') (measures 2, 4, 10 and 12) used in the 18th century is the equivalent of the present-day staccato.
It is therefore not to be interpreted as a staccatissimo.
