Innocence, Book I, No. 17
Handstucke fur angehende Klavierspieler - Pieces for Aspiring Players - Book 1
This lovely piece Innocence is the seventeenth piece in Daniel Gottlob Türk's Handstücke für angehende Klavierspieler. It is set in the key of A Major.
Please note the the sign // in measure 4 is used by Türk to indicate that the note should be played with a lifting touch in order to round-off the end of the phrase.
This sign should NOT be confused with the ornament // (trill) used by Baroque English virginalists.
Also, the corona sign at the end of measure 8 is used to indicate the end of the piece. It does NOT imply a pause before the following section.
Finally, the dynamics pf in measures 4 and 10 are to be interpreted as poco forte, that is, louder than p, but softer than mf.
