Allegro KV 3 from the Notebook for Nannerl
This Allegro in B flat Major, K 3 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is part of the Notebook for Nannerl Mozart [Notenbuch für Maria Anna (Nannerl) Mozart], 1759-1764.The original manuscript for this Allegro is in the hand of Leopold Mozart, and is dated March 4, 1762 (Wolfgang was then six years old).
Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (in this case, appoggiaturas) in accordance with the performance practice of the Classical period.
We consider these as short appoggiaturas, which are to be played on the beat, slurred to the main note, very fast, so that the main note loses almost none of its value.
One could however prefer to play them as longer appoggiaturas, in which case the appoggiatura, while still played on the beat, would take on one half of the main note's value. In this Allegro, the appoggiaturas would hence have the value of a sixteenth note.
Furthermore, please note that the slur in measure 2 (right hand) is editorial, but is justified by comparison with measure 22.
Also, in measure 27, one could play a B natural in the right hand, which would be comparable to the F sharp in measure 9.
