This brilliant and energetic Allegro is the first movement of the Sonata in A Major, Hob. XVI:5 by Franz Joseph Haydn.This sonata - also called Divertimento or Partita - is thought to have been composed before 1763, although its authenticity is doubtful.
If authentic, its style suggests that it must be one of Haydn's earliest works.

In particular, ornaments are played ON the beat, and trills begin on the upper auxiliary note.
