This Andante is the second movement of the Sonata in C Major, Hob. XVI:1, Landon 10 by Franz Joseph Haydn.This sonata is also known as a Partita or Divertimento.
It was probably composed between 1750 and 1755.
Please note that this score contains suggestions for performing the ornaments (here : appoggiaturas and trills) in accordance with the performance practice of the Classical period.
In particular, all ornaments begin ON the beat, and trills begin on the upper auxiliary note.
In trills, more or less repercussions may be played depending on the player's taste and ability.
Moreoever, measure 2 (and similar measures) contains a prepared trill, in which the appoggiatura serves as the first note of the trill.
Haydn's Andante, Hob. XVI:1 is appropriate for Grade 7 piano students.
