Écossaise in G Major, WoO 23
Ecossaise für Militarmusik - Scotch Dance
This Écossaise in G Major, WoO 23 [Écossaise für Militarmusik] by Ludwig van Beethoven was originally composed for wind band around the year 1810.This piano reduction was published by Czerny only after Beethoven's death, in 1834, in Vienna, in Czerny's Musikalisches Pfennig-Magazin.
While playing this écossaise, the player should try to bring out the amusing dissonance in measure 4, which must have been quite surprising in Beethoven's time.
Also, in order to convey the somewhat military character of this Écossaise, the accents should be robust.
