This tuneful Bagatelle in D Major, Opus 33, No. 6 is perfect for the intermediate-level pianist.It is one of Beethoven's best known bagatelles, and is a favorite among pianists.
This Bagatelle features a Rondo form :
- M. 1-8 : Theme in D Major
- Mm. 9-12 : Contrasting section A starting in B minor and modulating to D Major
- Mm. 13-20 : Theme returns, unaltered (except for the left hand in m. 13)
- Mm. 21-30 : Contrasting section B in F# minor, based on the first motive of the theme; ends on a fermata on F#
- Mm. 31-38 : Theme returns, unaltered
- Mm. 39-46 : Contrasting section C in D Major, which is in fact a variation on the theme
- Mm. 47-50 : Contrasting section A (same as mm. 9-12)
- Mm. 51-58 : Theme returns, unaltered
- Mm. 59-62 : Contrasting section A, varied (played in sixteenth notes instead of eighth notes)
- Mm. 63-70 : Contrasting section C returns, unaltered
- Mm. 71-end : Coda made of descending D Major scales over a D pedal in the left hand
