Study for Finger Placement

Study in A Major - Etude - Violin Beginners

This very easy Study in A Major is intended for beginners on the violin.

Its purpose is to develop proper finger placement on the violin.

While practicing this study, the beginner violin player should remember the following points:
  • Keep your left hand and thumb relaxed and your fingers curved and close to the string.
  • Your 4th finger should be above the strings at all times.
  • First play pizzicato to concentrate on your left hand.
  • Then play détaché in the upper part of the bow, stopping the bow after each note.
  • Pay attention to your posture and try to produce a beautiful resonant tone!
In measure 4, the + sign indicates left-hand pizzicato (pluck the E string with your 4th finger).

The violin student can also play this study starting on the D and on the G strings.

Duration : 00:29
