Four Seasons - Autumn - Concerto in F Major - Third Movement
This lively Allegro is the third of three movements in the Concerto RV 293, Op. 8, No. 3 (L'Autunno) by Antonio Vivaldi.This concerto is part of Vivaldi's famous Four Seasons [Le quattro stagioni], a series of four concertos part of Il cimento dell'armonia e dell'inventione [The Contest of Harmony and Invention].
Each concerto in the Four Seasons is associated to a sonnet probably written by Vivaldi himself.
The verses corresponding to the final Allegro of the Autumn concerto are as follows :
I cacciator alla nov' alba à caccia
Con corni, Schioppi, e canni escono fuore
Fugge la belua, e Seguono la traccia;
Già Sbigottita, e lassa al gran rumore
De' Schioppi e canni, ferita minaccia
Languida di fuggir, mà oppressa muore.
[The hunters emerge at the new dawn,
And with horns and dogs and guns depart upon their hunting
The beast flees and they follow its trail;
Terrified and tired of the great noise
Of guns and dogs, the beast, wounded, threatens
Languidly to flee, but harried, dies.]
