Sonate - Essercizo 11 - Essercizi per gravicembalo
This Sonata in C minor, K 11, L 352, P67 is one of Scarlatti's early sonatas.It first appeared as the eleventh sonata in the collection 30 Essercizi per gravicembalo which was published in London in 1738 or 1739.
However, it could very well date back one or two decades earlier, like most of the sonatas appearing in that collection, which was the first containing keyboard sonatas by Scarlatti.
This Sonata in C minor, although marked Allegro, has a reflective character.
It features beautiful contrasts between the melancholy and the playful, and between the dark and the lively and spirited.
