Prelude - Tunes for Clay's Musical Clock
This Sonata in C Major, HWV 598 is part of George Frideric Handel's 18 Tunes for Clay's Musical Clock, Set II, HWV 598-604.It is a one-movement sonata written on the treble clef only, although it is to be played with both the right and left hands.
Please note that the last note of measure 15 is G4.
Some editions of this Sonata show A4 as the last note of measure 15, but the Aylesford manuscripts clearly show G4.
Also, in measure 16, Handel added an ornament called a shake, which is the English name for a trill.
