This Menuet in G Major by Jean-François Dandrieu is an easy dance movement from the French Baroque period.It has a simple A-A-B-B musical form :
- Measures 1-16 : Phrase A starting in the main key of G Major and modulating to the dominant key of D Major in measure 14
- Measures 17-32 : Phrase B entirely in G Major
In particular, trills begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary note.
Also, the chords at the end of phrases may be rapidly broken, which yields a charming effect very typical of Baroque keyboard instruments.
