Suite 1, BWV 1007 (I : Prelude) -- Urtext
I : Prélude - Prelude from Suite for Unaccompanied Cello
This beautiful Prelude is probably the most famous movement from the complete set of cello suites composed by Bach, and it has been used in numerous films. This Prelude consists mainly of arpeggiated chords in broad waves over the four strings of the instrument, challenging the cellist's abilities in string crossings.
A long chromatic ascent in measures 37-38 leads to a culminating final cadenza in the key of G Major.
Please note that we have added obviously missing legato slurs in measures 3 (first beat), 8-14-20 (third beat) and 24 (first and second beats).
