Marche in G Major, BWV Anhang 124 -- Urtext
March from the Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach
This lively Marche in G Major, BWV Anhang 124 is the 18th entry in Anna Magdalena Bach's Notebook.Johann Sebastian Bach gave this notebook to his wife Anna Magdalena in 1725.
Over the years, the notebook was filled with favorite selections of the members of the Bach family.
This score is an Urtext based on the original manuscripts available.
This Marche BWV Anhang 124 was probably composed ca 1733 and was entered by C.P.E. Bach himself in Anna Magdalena Bach's notebook.
It has a simple A-A-B-B musical form :
- Measures 1-9 : Phrase A (played twice) in the main key of G Major, featuring many repeated notes in both hands
- Measures 10-22 : Phrase B (played twice) beginning in the dominant key of D Major and modulating back to G Major in measure 12
In accordance with Baroque performance practice, remember that unslurred quarter notes should be played slightly detached, especially in the left hand.
Please note that for your convenience, the editor has included in this score suggestions for the realization of the ornaments :
- Trills : (measures 7 and 20) begin ON the beat, on the upper auxiliary notes. More on less repercussions may be played depending on the player's ability. Also, the value of the dot may be exaggerated and the eighth note played as a sixteenth note, as was customarily done in the Baroque period. Prolonging the dot adds the vigor and brilliance that characterize much of the music from the Baroque period.
- Appogiaturas : (measures 13 and 17) are played ON the beat and take up one half on the main note's value
Duration : 01:48
